Burmester customers are music lovers with a sense for sonic and visual aesthetics. It goes without saying that their equipment leaves nothing to be desired in terms of technological content, reliable function and value retention over many years.

Can I use my Burmester amplifier in stereo, mono, or bi- amping mode?

Yes, our stereo amplifiers can be converted to mono or bi-amping mode with an adapter cable. If you have a mono amplifier and wish to convert it to stereo mode, a modification at our factory is required.

How can I determine the production year of my Burmester device?

Please email service@burmester.de with the following information:
– Exact model of the device (device number)
– Serial number
– Photos of the device, if available

How do I find out the pin assignment of the XLR connection on my Burmester device?

How do I register my newly purchased Burmester device to extend the warranty?

Will I receive confirmation of the warranty extension approval?

Once your warranty extension request has been approved, you will receive an automatic confirmation email.

Can I change the power voltage of my Burmester device?

Generally, yes. Please contact your local Burmester dealer, who can request the necessary parts and documentation from us.

Can my 808MK3 be upgraded to the 808MK5?

No, unfortunately the 808MK3 cannot be upgraded to the 808MK5.

Can I obtain a user manual for my Burmester device from you?

Yes, you can find user manuals for current products on our website at https://www.burmester.de/. Enter your device model in the search bar. At the bottom of the product page, you’ll find a download area containing the user manual, product information, declaration of conformity, and product photos.

Can I obtain circuit diagrams for my Burmester device?

No, unfortunately we do not provide circuit diagrams for our products.

What voltage does the remote-control output on Burmester devices provide?

Our devices provide a voltage of 10V and 35mA for remote control.

Can I connect devices that don’t support balanced connections using unbalanced cables?

Yes, Burmester devices can support unbalanced connections with an optional adapter.

How can I stream music from online services?

Burmester network devices can stream music via online services like TIDAL, Qobuz, and Idagio. You’ll need an account with these providers. To connect your account to the music center, enter your login information in the “Settings > Online Services” section through the iPad® app or web interface. Compatibility with third-party services (such as online radio, music streaming services) depends on third-party terms of use and technical requirements (such as internet access and service availability), which are beyond the control of Burmester Audiosysteme GmbH.

What should I consider when setting up speakers?

For optimal sound experience, speakers should be placed at least 50 cm away from any walls and large furniture to avoid any reflections that could be detrimental to the sound. The distance between the two speakers should ideally be less than the distance to the listener. Increasing the distance between the speakers creates a wider soundstage, which is beneficial for large orchestral or choral recordings but may not feel as accurate for ‘studio’ recordings, solo instruments or vocals.

You can slightly angle the speakers inwards towards the listener relative to the rear wall, as this affects mid and high frequencies but not bass. This adjustment enhances rear wall reflections and reduces side wall reflections, achieving a more focused spatial depth with minimal width reduction. High frequencies are more pronounced due to their shorter wavelengths. For specific information about your speakers, please consult the user manual.

How do I send my device/speakers for repair?

We provide service and sales exclusively through authorized dealers. Repairs must be arranged through a dealer, and the device must be shipped in its original packaging. Please contact your dealer if packaging assistance is needed.

How are repair costs calculated?

Repair costs are based on our repair flat rate. For specific pricing information, please contact your Burmester dealer. The repair flat rate includes the repair of electronic malfunctions, 300 independent tests, audio testing, trial runs, and device cleaning. Batteries and power supplies are replaced as part of the repair. The repair cost includes insured UPS shipping within Germany and Austria, as well as re-packaging if necessary. A separate quote will be provided for devices not listed in our price list. The cost estimate fee is €300 (excluding VAT). Shipping fees for pick-ups are billed separately, and additional dealer fees are not included.

Do you offer remote maintenance services?

Depending on the issue, our network devices may undergo initial inspection via remote maintenance. Software issues may be resolved remotely; however, hardware issues require the device to be sent in through an authorized Burmester dealer.

Can I order spare parts for my Porsche or Mercedes-Benz sound system from you?

Spare parts for automotive sound systems can only be ordered through the car manufacturer. Please contact your authorized Mercedes-Benz or Porsche dealer.

Can Burmester devices be repaired?

Our meticulously crafted components may occasionally require repair or refurbishment. We subject all repairs to the same rigorous quality controls that we do to our new components, ensuring that your device meets the highest standards after repair.
With highly qualified service technicians, extensive testing, and precise measurement procedures, we guarantee quality and reliability. Additionally, we ensure the long-term availability of spare parts and assemblies over decades to maximize customer satisfaction and the longevity of your product.

Can my Burmester device be modified?

Our products are designed for a variety of optimizations that enhance our products, improve their performance, and preserve their value. Our portfolio offers a range of modular options to meet your needs. Discontinued devices can be equipped with new features. For example, optional modules like the Phono Module can be retrofitted years later, ensuring versatility over a long usage period.

Can I get replacement packaging for my device from you?

Packaging is custom-made for each product and is subsequently not always available. Therefore, please always keep the original packaging. Replacement packaging can be purchased through any Burmester dealer.

Can I buy products or spare parts directly from your factory?

Our authorized Burmester dealers are always available to assist you with any questions or concerns. Visit our Storefinder to locate the nearest dealer and receive personalized information on-site. Direct sales from the factory are not possible.

How long do you keep spare parts for devices you manufacture?

Our service list provides a detailed overview of our services, including specific information on repair offerings and flat-rate service prices. You can also explore various options—upgrades for the Burmester 111 Musiccenter to X-AMP3 output stages, or conversion from HDD to SSD are available. In electronics, the 911 MK3 offers an upgrade to two new amplifier modules with optimized circuit designs and continuous silver cabling. Models 995 and 961 can also be upgraded to MK3 versions, featuring new mid-range and tweeters and an updated crossover.

Can I retrofit a Burmester sound system in my Mercedes or Porsche?

Retrofitting the Burmester sound system in our partner’s vehicles is unfortunately not possible.
