PURE SOUND
PURE SOUND is a collaborative project between Burmester X Mastercut, dedicated to authentic, unfiltered sound. Here, lacquer masters are cut in private recording sessions, followed by listening to the recording itself.
We cater to artists, aesthetes, and sound creators who seek to preserve a unique musical experience. Specifically, we produce direct recordings on lacquer discs from a vinyl cutting lathe.
EXCLUSIVE EVENT
Recording Session
During our private recording sessions, we capture performances with the full emotional impact of live music, creating recordings of profound significance. Everything is recorded ‘live’, without any post-processing. We cut the sound unchanged onto a lacquer-coated record with a sapphire. This is how we preserve a unique musical experience.
Burmester experience
Listening Session
During the listening sessions, we replay these unique recordings in an intimate setting on Burmester equipment, highlighting details such as the contact of a bow on a string or a singer’s breath. It is about the realistic nuances in each sound and recreating the compelling stories behind the music and performance.
PURE SOUND
Latest Session
Our project led the string sextet of the KARAJAN ACADEMY of the Berliner Philharmoniker to Vienna to create a unique recording. In doing so, we captured every nuance and dynamic of Pjotr Tchaikovsky’s world-famous composition ‘Souvenir de Florence’ and immortalized it onto a mastercut record.
During the Listening Session, the six string players listened to their own performance via a Burmester set-up. An extraordinary experience for the musicians, who were confronted for the first time as listeners with their own performance via a high-quality audio system and immersed themselves in all facets of their true sound.
The US artist MALIA collaborated with us to create a unique live recording. In a private setting, she performed 6 songs, which were cut onto record without alteration.
Following the recording session, MALIA experienced her own music in all its authentic splendor at our accompanying listening session. The artist, along with all attendees, had the privilege of enjoying a unique direct recording playback experience that contained all of the vibrancy and essence of the live performance.
